Many pilots find the
euphoria of achieving Club Pilot (Novice) rating wears off quite
quickly. Going flying on your own can be rather daunting.
Suddenly there is a lot
less support out on the hill.
Some schools seem to
lose interest completely once you are signed off....We take
a different view.
The Butterfly
Pilot Club offers you a mentored infrastructure within which
to build your airtime, airmanship and skills.
We look on our pilots
a valued clients, fellow flyers and, very often, good friends!
As a member, you have
ongoing access to our instructors, sites, experience, conrtacts
and equipment; just as a students do on a novice course.
The difference is that
our tutorial input is open ended, less task based, more relaxed
yet precisely targeted. We aim to support you to Pilot rating and
beyond. Higher Education in fact, for paraglider pilots.
The BHPA coaching scheme
is intended to address this "black hole" after CP, but
it does rely on the goodwill of amateur coaches giving up their
time for you, out on the hill, just when it gets flyable.....
In practice, we sometimes
meet low airtime pilots teaming up and leading one another where
angels fear to tread....
Of course there is a
Pilot Club membership fee, but weighed against the financial cost
of even a slight injury (which might be avoided by a timely intervention
or a quick explanation), it is an insignificant.consideration. Annual
membership fee is greatly reduces upon completion of your Pilot
rating.
Paragliding is aviation,
Paragliding is hazardous, Paragliding is hugely fulfilling .....but
Paragliding is not cheap.
Please phone 01983
731 611 or call in at the centre to talk over your
membership options with us. Lots of very
good pilots did!
